Aurora fire station #5

Aurora, CO

Fire Station #5 is the third new station designed and constructed for Aurora based on the prototype that HB&A developed in 2015. It replaces the original Station #5 which was built in 1969, and had become one of the busiest stations in the Aurora area. In addition to two regular Companies, the new station houses the Heavy Rescue Company and a Battalion Chief.

Because Fire Station #5 is located in an established neighborhood of single-family residences, HB&A designed the exterior appearance of the building with a muted palette of colors and materials to fit the character of the area. HB&A designed Station #5 to serve the community and provide flexible space that will work for the City of Aurora for many years to come, even as the nature of emergency response continues to evolve.
