Fort Lupton rEADINESS cENTER
Fort Lupton, CO
HB&A’s work on the Fort Lupton Readiness Center began in 2008 with master planning, design and construction administration of the undeveloped 25-acre site. The Readiness Center was initially designed to house three COARNG companies and included a large vehicle storage area and vehicle maintenance facility. Due to State level funding cuts, the project was reduced in scope and mission to support a single infantry company. The primary purpose of the 35,046 SF Readiness Center was to accommodate the administration, training, and logistical requirements of a newly formed infantry company totaling 131 soldiers. With the potential of expansion in the future, the HB&A team applied design features to allow for easier modification when the addition became fiscally possible, which happened in 2020.
Building from our previous work, HB&A reviewed the current Master Plan and 1390/91, performed a site visit to verify current conditions and met with stakeholders to determine program requirements needed to accommodate the relocating Forward Support Company. The expansion designs were prepared from the 2008 documents that were completed in preparation for the expansion and include storage, locker room, administrative space, and an enlarged PT room. The existing Workbay was renovated and a new stand-alone 6,700 SF Workbay was constructed, as well as a new structure in the Motor Pool area. With the increase of personnel, the secured military vehicle parking area and access road will be enlarged, and canopy parking with future PV arrays will be designed as well. The original structure was certified LEED® Gold and the addition was also designed to meet LEED® Silver or Gold status.
