This multi-use fire station and radio shop facility provides much needed space for two different city departments on Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) campus. The building combines the functions of a fire station with office and maintenance space for the city’s radio shop that services city vehicles. While they are contained in the same building, each department has separate, secure access.

A creative sit plan was needed to fit the 18,000 sf building within the bounds of the existing campus and maintaining both public access to the two departments and secure parking for employees. HB&A and the CSFD worked closely together to ensure the facility met the tight budget constraints throughout the design process.
